What distinguishes Kivra ID from other e-identifications?

Kivra ID will have the same level of trust as BankID – but will be so much more than an e-identification.

Initially, it will be a more convenient way to log in to Kivra – and eventually to authorities and other private companies. In the long run, it will be about completely new possibilities for sharing and using your data.

You get Kivra ID completely digitally, and you can do it from home. All you need is a Swedish passport or a national ID card and your smartphone.

Is Kivra ID secure?

Yes. Kivra ID will meet the requirements for Swedish e-ID at trust level 3, according to Digg's trust framework. This is the same type of security review that other Swedish e-IDs undergo.

We start with your Swedish passport or national ID card and check that the document is authentic and issued by the police, including by reading the chip. We also ensure that it is really you who creates your e-ID, i.e. that no one is using your photo or a recording to register. We match your face through facial verification and do checks against the population register.

For an additional layer of security, Kivra ID is tied to your phone - it cannot be moved to any other device.

Do I have to switch to Kivra ID?

No, you can keep your other e-identifications and use them just as usual. When you get Kivra ID, you will initially get an additional and more convenient way to log in to Kivra (with facial recognition or fingerprint). You will also be on the move as Kivra ID moves from a login service to a completely new way to share and control your data.

Will Kivra ID replace other electronic identification?

No. Kivra ID is a complement, not a replacement. With Kivra ID you will be able to do so much more than with a regular e-ID. In addition, you always have an option to log in and handle your affairs digitally, no matter what is happening in the outside world.

When can I use Kivra ID outside of Kivra?

In the long term, you will be able to use Kivra ID for much more than logging into Kivra – including logging into authorities and private actors. There is no exact timetable yet, but we are working intensively to quickly make Kivra ID a broad e-identification that works in as many contexts as possible.
