Accessibility in Kivra
At Kivra, our goal is for everyone to be able to use our service.
Accessibility Is a Given for Us
We continuously work to ensure that our website and mobile apps are accessible and easy to use for everyone – regardless of disability, technical experience, or varying abilities.
We follow established guidelines and standards:
But we see accessibility as more than just meeting requirements – it is an ongoing effort that demands constant development, adaptation, and learning. For us, accessibility is a natural part of everything we do, and something we take very seriously.
Some examples of what we do:
- We involve users early in development and conduct tests, including with people with disabilities or whose first language is not Swedish.
- We have external experts review our service.
- We have guidelines in our design system on how to best use color contrasts, text sizes, and components for maximum accessibility.
- We use inclusive language and work with communication guidelines so that as many people as possible can understand and easily use our service.
Legal Requirements for Our Payment Function
Starting June 28, 2025, the Accessibility Act will come into effect. This law is part of the EU-wide directive European Accessibility Act (EAA), aiming to make products and services more accessible to everyone. Our payment function, where you pay bills in Kivra, will be covered by this law.
Read our report on accessibility in Kivra’s payment function.
Even though the whole service is not covered by this law, our goal is to work towards making all parts of Kivra accessible.
Everything Sent in Kivra
We recognize that many of our senders will be subject to the new legal requirements. Therefore, we work to support them in the best possible way so that what is sent via Kivra becomes accessible to all. To assist our senders and partners, we have developed guidelines and instructions for creating accessible PDF documents.
Support for Assistive Technologies
We continuously test to ensure our service works with various types of assistive tools. We conduct manual testing as well as automated testing across a wide range of devices.
Kivra can, among other things, be used with
- screen readers
- magnification tools
- keyboard navigation
- enlarged text
- dark mode
- increased contrast
