Responsive payslips that work better for everyone

When AKG started sending responsive payslips via Kivra with the help of Siphra, it wasn’t just about introducing a new format. The goal was to make payroll information clearer – while also ensuring that it works for all employees with visual impairments. The result was both more efficient communication and increased inclusion.

A payslip that’s easy to understand

Payroll information is often complex and gives rise to recurring questions. With responsive payslips, the information can be divided into clear sections that employees choose to explore in more detail – for example regarding vacation, tax, or payment. For AKG, the payslip became not just a document, but also a way to explain, guide, and prevent questions, saving time for both employees and the payroll function.

It’s not just a payslip, but a great platform for communication, says Anna Gardtman, Head of Compliance & Comms.

Accessibility built in, not an add-on

A central part of the initiative was ensuring that the payslips worked equally well for all employees, including those with visual impairments. Instead of dense PDFs filled with numbers and symbols, the information is now structured under headings that are easy to navigate using screen readers. This makes it easier to find the right information, choose what’s relevant at the moment, and access payroll details on one’s own terms – without extra steps.

Now, as someone with a visual impairment, I get the same information as everyone else – and in a way that actually works for me, Yasin Haj-Abdo, vision educator.

When it improves for some, it improves for everyone

After implementation, AKG quickly noticed a clear impact. The number of recurring questions decreased, while more employees actively logged in to review their payslips. Changes made to increase accessibility also proved to make the information clearer and more useful for all employees – regardless of need. The feedback has been consistently positive, confirming that accessibility is not a niche solution, but a way to raise the overall quality of communication.

The biggest reaction was that it became very quiet in terms of questions – while at the same time, more people were actually logging in and checking, Anna Österberg, Head of Finance.
