30 percent chose direct debit in Kivra directly
As electricity prices fluctuate and invoice amounts become higher, the demands for clarity and security increase. For Boo Energi, automatic payments via Kivra became a way to both simplify things for customers and create better predictability in the billing process. The result? High conversion, fewer reminders and a smooth implementation.

A growing need for control and clarity
As an energy company, Boo Energi operates in a regulated industry where payment flows are business-critical. At the same time, customer behavior has changed, not least in line with increased electricity prices and greater awareness of their own consumption. Although direct debit has long been a way to simplify payments, for some it has also been associated with a feeling of losing control when the amounts vary.
Customers have become more aware. They want to know what they are paying for and feel in control. There has been concern that money is just being withdrawn, but with Kivra it is clear: you get a notice, see the specification and know exactly when the payment is made. This creates peace of mind, says Alexander Forsback, Customer Service Manager at Boo Energi.
A modern payment that is easy to get started with
When Boo Energi was going to get started with direct debit in Kivra, it was important that the solution would be easy to activate and feel secure all the way through, without unnecessary steps or technical thresholds.
It was very easy to get started. We received a lot of help and didn't have to spend a lot of time or IT resources on the implementation, says Alexander.
The clarity right from the start has also made a difference in customer service. When customers understand what's happening – which account is being used, when the payment is being withdrawn and that everything is scheduled – the need to contact them is reduced.
We have basically not received any questions at all about automatic payments. Sometimes no response is a good response and in this case it means that customers understand how it works, Alexander adds.
High conversion and fewer reminders
The results came quickly when Boo Energi launched direct debit in Kivra: already in the first month, 25 percent chose to activate, and today the figure is over 30 percent - with continued growth.
I didn't expect the demand to be so high, the conversion rate was high from the start, says Alexander.
Previously, Boo Energi saw that a large part of the reminders went to customers with manual payment methods, where invoices are easily lost or missed.
We have the best payment rate on Kivra and direct debit. It is at least as high as our traditional direct debit, Alexander concludes.
