The Payslip that Does Good
A Pleasant Surprise for Strömma Turism & Sjöfart. Merja Wahrén has been the HR & Payroll Manager at Strömma Tourism & Shipping for a little over a year now. From the company's headquarters in Stockholm, she and her colleagues handle payroll not only for Strömma but also for the parent company PC Rettig, Hemavan Alpint, and Djurgårdensfärjetrafik.
Discovering that they contribute to charity by using the Payslip that Does Good was a pleasant surprise.
Many of our employees are seasonal, so the number of payslips varies, but it's usually between 400 and 500 per month, or around 4,000 per year, Merja explains.
The payroll processing is done using Hogia's payroll system, which the company implemented in 2018 when GDPR requirements came into effect. Merja herself has worked with Hogia's payroll system at various employers for over 20 years.
I think it's a fantastic, streamlined way to distribute files in large volumes. We send the payslips directly from the system to each employee's mobile app. You can receive your payslip via MyPayslip or Kivra. In terms of handling, there's no difference for us, Merja says.
But there is actually a difference, albeit on another level. For each payslip sent with Kivra, Hogia and Kivra allocate a portion of the revenue to selected charitable organizations at no extra cost to the customer. In recent years, the proceeds have gone to Reach for Change, which supports social entrepreneurship among children and young people to reduce poverty, inequality, and climate impact.
When we tell Merja about Hogia's and Kivra's joint initiative - Payslips that do good - it's a pleasant surprise.
Oh, I actually didn't know that. But it's great that we can contribute to something so good in such a simple way. I believe all our employees would appreciate it. Now we'll spread the word and make sure the whole company finds out too!
